Since its inception in Shanghai in 1998, Biz - Art has fostered an atmosphere that welcomes, encourages and supports art in all forms.

Biz- Art has always been dedicated to experimental concepts and ideas, as well as fostering a community where different ideas and individuals merge, interact and motivate each other. This is attained either through collaborations with individual artists or with entire organizations. This is a self- supported and not- for- profit art center that combines artistic and commercial pursuits with the ultimate goal of advancing contemporary art in Shanghai and beyond. The name “Biz- Art” refers to the duel roles of business and art.

Striving to provide a wide platform for the emerging artists, the exhibition space has been split into half to include a full production studio for artists- in- residence from China and abroad. They concentrate more on production, workshops and symposiums. Biz- Art continues to cooperate with Artist Link and the Cultural and Educational Sector of the British Council in a joint artist- in- residence program. They have organized about a hundred artistic events and exhibitions and have collaborated with numerous artists, curators, artistic structures and governmental artistic organizations from China and abroad. The team gathers artists, designers and specialized technicians.
