Ritz-Carlton Bar (The)

The place occupied by Ritz Carlton was earlier just an ordinary hotel corridor. It was turned into a perfect bar only later on. The main attraction of this stylish hotel bar is the extensive collection of cigars and whiskeys. Located on the mezzanine level, The Bar has one of Shanghai's largest collections of cigars and malt whiskeys.

It features nightly performances by the jazz band, Jacque Tara Washington Jazz Trio from 9pm to 1am. Comfortable armchairs, low tables and the bar create an elegant atmosphere, which fits well in the five- star Portman Ritz- Carlton Hotel. For loyal guests, personalized martinis are specially created and named after them.

A wide- ranging selection of American jazz is performed nightly by Musical Director Danny Woody and accomplished musicians who have performed with jazz greats. The specialty of the place is that on Monday evenings, the Bar plays host to Shanghainese jazz musicians.
