Shanghai Spring International Music Festival

The International Music Festival is a real treat for music lovers. It is held at the magnificent Shanghai Oriental Arts Center. A lot of enthusiasm can be seen among music fans.

This festival lasts for over a period of two weeks in May. It has won much acclaim and has attracted the likes of Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Vienna Choir. Come by to witness the ‘Golden Award' giving ceremony crediting DJs in the industry. Bands from Germany, Austria, Spain, Italy and Australia, almost all over the world perform at the festival and judges from countries including Russia, Australia and Japan would select and give awards for the best music on radio both at home and abroad.

Besides, the festival is a platform for upcoming bands. A forum on music and a public performance is also held. Begun in 2001, the Shanghai Spring International Festival is a merging of the Shanghai Spring Music and Dance Month and the Shanghai International Broadcasting Music Festival, which were held since the 1960s and 1980s, respectively.

The festival always has the theme of Peace, Friendship, Blending and Harmony. The national radio DJ contest, celebrates performance of Chinese and foreign music and dance and international academic seminar, joint performance of regional new folk music.
