Natural History Museum

The Natural History Museum showcases educational exhibits with the main attraction being the Ocean World which is an interesting section featuring a wide variety of aquatic life.

The Museum of Natural History under the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum was established in 1956. Guo Moruo, former president of Chinese Academy of Sciences, made superscription for it. Tan Jiazhen, an academician has served as the curator of the museum.

Start the tour with the dinosaur skeleton display on the first floor. This is a very informative museum. It has 3000 pieces of rare animal specimen in its 3000 square meters exhibiting halls, covering all the species. Remarkably, it is one of the biggest nature history museums of the country. There are halls for dinosaurs, paleontology history, ancient carcass, invertebrate, fish, amphibious animal, reptile, bird, mammal, science education and gift shops.

The first floor is the main exhibition area of the first phase project. It consists of five exhibition sections, namely, Wide Spectrum of Creatures, Lithosphere Exploration, Children's Technoland, AV Paradise, and Cradle of Designers. Besides, a leisure hall, cafeteria and other service facilities are also set on this floor.
